Koh Samui Holidays
Cheap Holidays in Koh Samui
Koh Samui is a wonderful island which offers some of the best diving in Thailand. This was the original back-packers island but over the years the island has become more upscale. Stop here to enjoy coral reefs, sun bleached sand, warm tropical waters and palm tree encircled beaches. Make all of your holiday dreams come true with a trip to this Thai Gem!
About the Koh Samui
This island sits in a small chain of islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Its neighbours are the islands of Koh Tao and Koh Tan all of which offer amazing diving. To get to the island from the mainland you will need to take a ferry or hop on a plane from either Bangkok or Suratthani. The ferry journey takes one and a half hours and gives you a good chance to meet people.
Once on the island you can chill out on the pristine white beaches or go for a swim in the blue green waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The commercial beaches of Chaweng and Lamai are perfect for those who enjoy the crowds, while the beaches on the other side of the island are quieter and less commercial. Whether you are looking for a party, relaxation or a bit of fun, you will find it on Samui.
Koh Samui Holiday Attractions
The main attraction of Koh Samui is the diving and snorkelling. Here the clear waters, coral reefs and abundance of fish life make this a top spot for diving. Head out on a dive trip for your chance to see the magnificent whale shark in its natural habitat. On the beach enjoy volleyball, football, or try the Thai game of Takraw which uses a ball made of Rattan. Other attractions include watching Thai kick boxing at the stadium or just sitting back and enjoying the good weather.
Koh Samui Weather
Koh Samui generally misses the normal Thailand monsoon and instead is affected by the Northeast monsoon. Between January and May the weather is great and June to September there is mainly sunshine with the odd brief shower. October to December is the wet season with frequent showers. The weather is at its most pleasant in January and February with March till May being the hottest time.
